TOOL AND DIE MAKER (PRESS TOOLS, JIGS AND FIXTURES)

-Tool and Die making is one of the most prominent and promising course amongst the highly skilled labour and it involves the highest degree of skill and accuracy. It demands a deep insight in to the manufacturing of Jigs, fixtures, all type of press tools, moulds for plastics, die- casting dies and forging die for engineering, electrical, electronics, automobile industries and house hold articles etc. The duty of a tool maker is to make the above mentioned tool with the help of Tool drawing and other related Machine shop, deat treatment department and quality control department etc.

  1. Admission

Qualification           : SSLC pass / Plus two
Age                         : Between 14-40 as on 1st August
Admission will be done through an Entrance examination which is designed to evaluate the performance of the candidate with paper in English, Mathematics, Science and Aptitude test for the profession.
    B.  The syllabus
The Duration of the course is Two years.
In the first year the trainee is given the basic theoretical knowledge and an introduction to the bench-work an machine works. In the second year the trainee goes through all the aspects of Tool Making which makes him skilled Tool Maker.

  1.    1st Year

      a.   Basic manual metal working skills and application of the skills learnt:-
This includes Bench-work, exercise in sawing marking chipping, filing, scraping, taping etc.

  1. IInd Year
    1. Practice in manual metal working skills:-

This includes Bench-work in advanced fitting exercises and fitting of simple jigs, fixtures, gauges, press tools and moulds.

    1. Hot-working of Metals:-

This includes training in Heat treatment, forging welding, soldering, bazing etc.

  1. III Year
    1. Machine working skills:-

This includes training on the following machines.
a). Lathe
b). shaping
c). Milling
d). Surface Grinding
e). Cylindrical Grinding
f). Tool and Cutter Grinding
g). Press work
h). Special purpose machine
i). CNC Machine
